Literature Circles on theme of Tolerance
The sixth grade students are working in Literature Circles. They are reading novels related to the theme of tolerance of differences. Some of the literature we are reading include Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, The Devil's Arithmetic, and Behind the Bedroom Wall. Students will be sharing their thinking about the novels they are reading in this blog.

I think that Karina in Behind the Bedroom Wall has definitely gone through a transformation by meeting the little Jewish girl that her mother and father are hiding.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Karina really changed once she me the Jewish girl. She had been brainwashed for so long that it took the very real experience of meeting a Jew to humanize them and make her think differently.
